Every year, the rainy season leaves behind puddles and other standing water, creating the need to navigate through it or across it. Also each year, that scenario creates danger and safety issues for employees, workmen, students at schools, etc.

Mike Orona, a Director of Maintenance and Operations; Pat Healy, a Maintenance Foreman, Rob Voors, an Assistant Superintendent; and Greg MacKay, a Classroom Teacher – all in education settings in Southern California –saw first-hand the inconvenience, damage and injury caused by the rains and waterlogged, wooden pallets – sometimes with wet, slippery plywood nailed to the top – to get across the hazard.

After years of confronting the problem, a director of Maintenance and Operations in California, with the support of colleagues in other municipalities and school districts concerned with the same problems and liability, developed the Puddle Jumper.

This team continues to be involved in the day-to-day operations still. Puddle Jumpers can be used by themselves or if necessary, they have the versatility to be expanded to be taller by adding “feet,” longer by combining multiple Puddle Jumpers with the “bridge,” or wider by placing Puddle Jumpers side-by-side.
